There are those nudist purists who argue that footwear is inconsistent with nudity. In their opinion, you aren't naked if you're wearing shoes and socks.
I counter with the simple fact that whatever they consider nude or not. Personal safety is a primary concern of everyone. If a man feels the need to protect his feet, then let him wear shoes and quit pestering him for doing so. He's being proactive rather than reactive and he has legitimate concerns for being able to enjoy his hiking adventure without injury to himself.
Respect the man. Respect his choice. Respect his body. Respect his safety precaution.
