Today, February 7, is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day!
Today marks the seventeenth consecutive observance of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. The concept for this grass-roots campaign was formed in 1999 with the first celebration in 2000. The purpose is to raise awareness within the African-American community, specifically, and the entire population, in general, of the effects of HIV.
The initiative consists of four essential components:
- Get educated.
- Get involved
- Get tested
- Get treatment
