Happy Memorial Day!
This is the day, in the USA, that we honor and salute all servicemembers of the armed forces who gave their lives defending our freedoms and this country. The Memorial Day holiday is always observed on the last Monday in May, annually.
On this day, all flags are flown at half-mast until the noon hour as a tribute to the men and women who died serving this nation. At the noon hour, the flags are then raised to full-mast for the remainder of the day.
It is customary for the President of the United States to present a Wreath of Remembrance at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. This Wreath of Remembrance is symbolic of a country paying respects to all those lives lost in battle throughout all of this nation's history.
