The first Monday in September, annually, is the date set aside by the U.S. Congress to honor all American workers and all their labors. It is a national holiday and the final three-day weekend of the Summer season every year.
Just as the Memorial Day holiday is the "unofficial" beginning of summer festivities in the USA, Labor Day has the distinction of being the "unofficial" ending. Despite the festive atmosphere, this holiday does bring with it a certain amount of sadness. I hate to see the passing of another summer.
