Bottoms-Up!

End of August, 2016

Today is August 31, 2016, the last day of the last full month of the Summer. Where did all of this season of sand, sun and surf disappear? It feels as though it was only last week when I was writing about my joy at the arrival of this time of the year. Now it is almost all in our past!

Starting with a Bottoms-Up! featuring the best and bountiful buttocks of a bare dude enjoying the seasonal delights of the sand, surf and sun, we'll recall our own experiences with these elements during the preceding weeks.

Our next feature is a guy who is most definitely proud to bare his booty for all to see and lust for! I know many would jump in and join him skinny-dipping while anxious to engage in some aquatic acrobatics!

Our final Bottoms-Up man for August, 2016, is happily performing some hand-stands on the beach in honor of all those who competed in this year's Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil! Let's hope he remembered to apply sunscreen on his booty!

Peace! Get naked. Enjoy!

Naturist or Nudist? Part I

Naturist? Nudist? What's the difference? I'm often asked. As far as I'm concerned, there is no major difference between the two and I suppose it is individual preference over which label (name/term) to use. When posting on Guys Without Boxers: Bare With Pride, most of the time I employ the two interchangeably in an effort to be as inclusive as possible. After all, we naturists/nudists  are discriminated against enough as it is without me being offensive on a nudecentric site.

However, I am by no means an authority on naturism or nudism, I'm merely a practitioner on living bare or clothes-free, socially. I imagine that there are purists who choose to self-identify as one or the other for a reason. In an effort to be as respectful as possible, I hope this posting here helps to clarify and to distinguish the differences between the two and to raise awareness of the diversity of all of those who appreciate, embrace and support the philosophy of living bare (without clothing).

Wikipedia defines naturism as a way of life in harmony with nature characterized by the practice of communal nudity with the intention of encouraging self-respect, respect for others and the environment. Nudism is defined as the belief or practice of going nude (without clothing or covering) especially in secluded, sexually mixed groups for reasons of health.

At face value, apparently, very similar definitions with almost identical outcomes: the freedom to live without the burden of having to wear clothing. But once you consider the descriptions independently of one another, it is soon obvious that there are some discrepancies and what initially appeared to be minor variances aren't quite as simple as the original thought.

By definition, nudism is a belief and/or practice. Naturism is a way of life. True, both results are the same, body freedom and clothes-freedom, but the essential elements differ. The nudist, through nudism, is the act of living nude, naked or without clothing. The naturist, through naturism, is a philosophical lifestyle. Both are conscious choices based on comfort (living bare) but for a variety of reasons. A nudist may be naked because he/she feels more relaxed without clothes. A naturist may be naked because he/she feels closer to nature and the natural world without clothes.

For example, whereas a naturist subscribes to the philosophy of living in harmony with our natural world and being a practitioner of environmentally-conscious efforts the same is not true for nudists. A nudist may or may not practice environmental conservation. He/she could litter profusely and may be completely ambivalent regarding "green" concerns or issues. Both may embrace the idea of living clothes-free but for differing reasons.

More than likely, a naturist is idealogically inclined to be of a similar mindset and worldview with other naturists more so than their nudist counterpart. Naturists are more culturally in-tune with each other than nudists. As a group, nudists are more diverse and aside from their preference of living clothes-free may not share any other common denominator.

Naturists are more inclined to a sense of community than are nudists. Both groups recognize their affinity with each other through their preference for nudity instead of clothing. However, beyond that unique bond, the unity dissolves. Naturists, because of their shared lifestyle and philosophy towards the environment are connected to one another in other ways. Nudists, on the other hand, are connected to each other through a bond of nudity and often little else. There is a lack of kindred spirit or camaraderie beyond the desire to be naked.

Nudists are more prone to homophobia than naturists. Naturists, as a group, have more of a live-and-let-live worldview and are usually more tolerant of others. Nudists, on the other hand, are a broader community and more diverse than naturists. They generally range in the socio-political spectrum from one extreme to the other and include more of a xenophobic outlook. Extremists from either persuasion tend to favor the nudist camp as opposed to the naturist community. Of course, not all nudists are homophobic just as not all naturists are inclusive.

Be Confident Bare

The image that we project when bare is most important. Our attitude speaks to others about how we feel about ourselves when we are clothes-free or nude. Our lack of body-shame and insecurity lets those around us know that being bare is natural and that be seen by others naked is of no consequence.

If we exude an air of confidence and pride, then this may inspire others who are contemplating nudity to follow-up on their determination. Our example could and does have a positive impact on the lives of others.

Recognizing that our poise and comfort with our own nudity and the nakedness of others around us has a serious influence on how the textile (clothed) perceive social nudity. By being ourselves, not acting embarrassed or concerned about sharing our clothes-free bodies and allowing the world to see precisely how normal and ordinary being bare really is, we are the best "ambassadors of goodwill" for the entire naturist/nudist universe. The problems that stem from the rest of mainstream society thinking nude as being abnormal and unusual generally disappear when society begins to view bare as being nothing more than living without clothing.

Dilemma: Skinny-Dipping Controversy

WTF??????

A co-worker of my husband, Aaron, recently shared a thought with him: "People who swim naked in a pool aren't really skinny-dipping. Skinny-dippers always swim naked in natural bodies of water, like rivers and lakes."  This particular co-worker knows that we both prefer to be bare and we have actually seen him, clothes-free, at a few socially nude events.

When Aaron relayed this to me later, I asked how he responded. He stated that they argued over the comment and both agreed to disagree. Aaron then offered his summary of their discussion, specifically highlighting their disagreements.

I admit that I am of the same opinion as my husband. However, I do need to add that I've never had anyone provide such a narrow definition of skinny-dipping (swimming nude) before. Usually, everyone understands that swimming suit-free and skinny-dipping is essentially the same. Both are done without the benefit of any type of swim-wear.

As an example,of this controversy, the dude swimming in the image above is not skinny dipping because he's swimming in an artificial (man-made) body of water, a pool. The man swimming the the ocean in the header (lead photo) is skinny-dipping as he is swimming in a natural body of water, the ocean.

Aaron said to me that he'd never heard of anyone making such a distinction before. Skinny-dipping was simply skinny-dipping. It was swimming without any clothing or covering, period. In his mind, it doesn't matter what the body of water is; river, lake, sea, ocean or pool. I concur with Aaron on this point. It does seem to me the argument is like trying to split the proverbial pubic hair.

Swimming in any body of water without an actual swimsuit or any other type of covering (such as a pair of cut-off jeans, shorts, underwear, etc) is swimming bare and that to me is what constitutes skinny-dipping. Playing basketball is playing basketball, no matter if you're wearing an official team uniform, wearing a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt or wearing nothing at all. The concept is the same, no matter what the activity.

According to Aaron's co-worker, if skinny-dipping only happens within a natural body of water, then there are many man-made lakes and reservoirs that  host skinny-dipping events for the Guinness Book of Records that are conducting illegal competitions. These facilities are man-made and not naturally occurring. Therefore, no one is skinny-dipping and Guinness' recognition is invalid so therefore their entire "Book of Records" is a sham.

In the end, I suppose the entire argument over whether or not skinny-dipping occurs in a natural or man-made body of water is pointless. Ultimately, the final decision lies with the men who are really doing the swimming. If they believe that they are skinny-dipping, then they are. If, instead, they are just swimming bare, then they are doing just that. It is that simple. They are doing what they want to do, period.

Bare Sundays: Thank You, Rio de Janeiro!

Sundays are always bare days at our house!

So come on inside, strip off all your clothes. Make yourself comfortable now that we're all clothes-free, We'll turn on the television and watch the Closing Ceremonies of the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Sit down, find a seat where you can see the full screen and I'll be right back with some refreshments and some snacks. In the meantime, enjoy the festivities from Rio!

Thank you, Rio de Janeiro and all of Brazil for a wonderful 31st Olympiad!

And a sincere and special expression of gratitude to all of the Olympians from around the world who made these past several weeks remarkable!

Photo-blog: Nude Dudes: August, 2016 and One-Year Anniversary

Happy One Year Anniversary: Guys Without Boxers: Bare With Pride!

Taking advantage of the last full month of Summer, 2016, the Nude Dudes above decided to get together, get bare and join in a skinny-dipping outing. This is one way to beat back the August heat and to enjoy social nudity at the same time! What are you waiting for? Winter is already on the way so get clothes-free and dive in!

Don't waste any valuable time. Strip out of whatever you're wearing and prepare to feel the coolness of the water envelop all your bare skin. That's one of the premier benefits of skinny-dipping: no need for air-conditioning. Its all natural, just like us! The author, Mark Twain, immortalized this activity in his books on Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. We can't let those classic fictional icons be disappointed!

Skinny-dipping alone is not recommended but a shallow shore is considered safe. So, bare your buttocks and join in the fun! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but summer won't last forever. Join our Nude Dudes now before it's too late!

And in honor of the first anniversary of this blog, here's a bonus beauty booty:
