It's time once again to strip and have fun!
The dates for the 2016 Nude Recreation Week in the USA begin tomorrow and end next Sunday, July 10. The first Nude Recreation Week was observed in 1992. This celebration, jointly sponsored by The Naturist Society (TNS) and the American Association of Nude Recreation (AANR), as an instrument of promoting the benefits of clothes-free leisure activities to the general (textile, clothes-wearing) population.
Over the past twenty-four years, TNS and AANR have used this week to highlight the joys of getting outside and having "fun in the sun" as well as advertising the variety of naked and clothing-optional destinations available to the public throughout the USA. The marketing campaigns conducted by these two national naturist/nudist organizations have helped to revitalize and resurrect what was once viewed as wavering interest in public social nudity in the United States.
The clothes-free destination industry has responded positively to the concept and ideals of Nude Recreation Week. Although somewhat skeptical initially, especially of including same gender loving naturist/nudist men in the marketing campaigns, they were reluctant in welcoming that specific community to their locations. This hesitation led to many destinations organizing activities that were "family-oriented" as a way of excluding that population. This move backfired as more and more businesses were founded that catered exclusively to the male bare clientele. The proliferation and success of these sites opened the eyes of many businessmen that these were gay dollars that weren't being spent on their "family-oriented" establishments.
The result is that now there are fewer resorts and properties that discourage gay guests. Some locations now feature competitions between the "straight" and "gay" teams as an added attraction for their Nude Recreation Week features. This reinforces the concept that as long as we're all naked and having fun, what difference does it make who we love. Bare fun is just that: bare fun for everyone!
There are two major naturist/nudist organizations for same gender loving men. If you're unable to travel to a nudecentric destination to celebrate Nude Recreation Week, plan to visit their online sites and investigate their offerings.
